Lotus is a relatively new Indian place that opened up in the last year or so.  It's very close to Daie, just across the street.  Like most Indian restaurants in Yokosuka, it is run by Nepalese, and the taste of the food is very muted and not complex, to appeal to Japanese and American tastes.  However, it's one of two Indian places that are close enough to the base to grab lunch at occasionally, and like other things, even bad Indian food is pretty good and nice for a change.

One thing I like about this place is their extremely cheap lunch special (590 yen comes to a little over $4 currently).  It's nothing fancy, just some chicken curry on rice with a small salad and a drink, but it's plenty for lunch.  You can ask for up to 3 levels of spice, which is still pretty underwhelming.  Lassi is a drink option, but it's sweet and they won't make a salt lassi, so I usually go for the iced chai.

Today I noticed something new that I wish I had tried.  It's a takeout "bento" lunch, with some curry, rice, naan, salad and a piece of chicken tikka, also for 590 yen.  It's probably plenty of food and on a nice day like today, perfect to eat over by the water.  I'll have to give it a try next time.
